National Key Trainer in Maize Farming

With Cufa 

DUTIES
  • Work closely with international maize farming expert to develop a maize farming training curriculum and training resources covering the following key topics:
  • Best practices in maize farming.
  • Maize and climate change adaptation strategies, including planting and harvest timing adjustment to climate and pest conditions, integrated pest management and monitoring, soil and nutrient management and water and irrigation strategies.
  • Other strategies as identified by consulting firm in consultation with the company, farmers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintenance of farm equipment, building, and environment.
  • Understanding of the maize supply chain in Cambodia, especially as it pertains to maize farmers;
  • Market linkages, and improvements that can benefit smallholder maize farmers.
  • Deliver three days’ training in maize farming best practices to all-female cohorts of 2,000 smallholder farmers.
  • Identify, train and supervise field trainers/local resource persons in coordination with project team and Prime Consultants
  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of training in maize farming best practices to farmers.
    Prepare the training reports
  • Conduct daily monitoring and evaluation of training
  • Assist in data collection for outcome/impact monitoring of the training
  • Other tasks as assigned by Team Leader and international maize farming expert
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree in agriculture science or other related fields. Alternative maize production training or qualifications combined with more than 3 years of relevant professional experience can be considered.
  • Female candidates are encouraged to apply who will receive highest consideration in the selection process.
  • Prior experience with conducting training programs for smallholder farmers in the maize farming sector – compulsory requirement.
  • Proven experience in training smallholder farmers in climate resilient farming practices – compulsory requirement.
  • Prior experience of working with women farmers, including delivering training programs to all-female trainee groups – highly desired.
  • Fluent in Khmer and verbal and written communication skills in English – compulsory requirement.
  • Proven experience and familiarity with agriculture production, particularly poultry production, in Cambodia is highly desirable.
